Preventive Care Program

One of the foundations to a quality of life and good health is through the care and maintenance of our mouths. When you think mouths, one automatically thinks of teeth, which can be categorized as hard tissue, but there are also other things such as your tongue, gums and palate which are regarded as soft tissue.

At SmileBright Dental we aim to care and maintain both your hard and soft tissue structures through our preventive care program. It all begins with soft tissue maintenance with our hygienist where they will perform a professional scale and clean using current ultrasonic technology and help tailor a prevention program for you to sustain at home.

Regular six-monthly check ups are ideal for optimum dental care. The hygienist main goal is to prevent plaque (deposits of food and bacteria which can create a sticky layer on the enamel) and calculus (hardened, calcified plaque) builds up on the tooth surface. The hygienist may also remove stains from teeth, recontour or smooth sharp or unshaped restorations, apply fluoride and can take radiographs to check for any abnormalities.

Hygienist

Smile Bright Dental has a full time Dental Hygienist who specialises in maintaining your oral health with gentleness and care.

During your appointment, our hygienist will provide a combination of preventive and educational information. Our hygienist will then examine your gums, remove plaque and calculus, remove any surface stains, and apply fluoride, as well as providing personalised hygiene instructions to suit your individual needs.

Professional scale and clean

Regular dental maintenance visits are essential for healthy teeth and gums. Often, a professional scale and cleaning is required to remove the calcified plaque deposits which accumulate over time. At Smile Bright Dental we use an ultrasonic scaler to vibrate and wash off the hard, calcified deposits on your teeth.

Periodontal Disease

Gum Disease or Periodontal Disease is the most common cause of tooth loss in adults. Caused by a buildup of plaque, it attacks the gums, bones and other supporting structures of the teeth, and can result in tooth loss.

Periodontal Disease can be diagnosed through an oral examination at Smile Bright Dental. Dr Dennis Chang can help you resolve and treat this oral condition, recapturing the well-being of your mouth.
