Porcelain and composite veneers
Porcelain veneers are used to reshape, repair or restore your teeth. It is a viable solution to a number of dental conditions. Veneers are popularly used to:
- Revitalise the surface teeth
- Conceal chips and cracks in teeth
- Cover stains and / or discolouration
- Close gaps between teeth
- Mask wear and tear
A veneer is a thin layer of restorative material placed over a tooth surface, either to improve the aesthetics of a tooth, or to protect a damaged tooth surface. There are two main types of material used to fabricate a veneer, composite and dental porcelain. A composite veneer may be directly placed (built-up in the mouth), or indirectly fabricated by a dental technician in a dental laboratory then cemented onto the tooth.
Porcelain veneers create very natural looking teeth and helps strengthen the tooth to provide durability and daily function. Our Veneers at SmileBright Dental are made out of very thin porcelain that is custom made to provide the perfect fit for your teeth and to achieve the desired outcome. Or can also be made of a composite resin material.
Porcelain veneers are non-invasive so there is little pain and discomfort involved in the process. They are attached to the front of the natural tooth, after a slight preparation, and stays in place for a long period of time. The results of a rejuvenated smile can be experienced in a single appointment for composite or over two appointments for porcelain.
